THREE STRANGE WOMEN FLOAT & BOSTON PRIDE

Three Strange Women is UNregular Radio’s ORIGINAL LGBT radio program, celebrating 2 years on-air the week of July 4th, 2013. It has been a long, fun road for Three Strange Women, and in our almost two years on radio we’ve changed, grown, and accomplished quite a bit in a short period of time.
Our most recent accomplishment has been to successfully obtain our very own float in the Boston Pride parade next Saturday, June 8th! It wasn’t easy, but I knew that with help of our sponsors, our friends in the Boston scene and of course the strange ladies, anything was possible!

We raised all of the money to make this event possible by either reaching out to local businesses or by hosting community music events. The first two businesses to donate to the Three Strange Women Pride Fund were Planet Fitness (Cambridge, MA location), & Lambert’s Rainbow Fruits, eventually followed by UNregular Radio, DigBoston, Luvable Leashes, Filth & Decay, & AR Productions. The flatbed tow truck was graciously donated by Jan’s Towing of Dorchester.
Three Strange Women hosted two musical gatherings that was a significant source of our fundraising. The first event was held on February 22nd, 2013 at a “super secret location” in Lower Allston, MA, thanks to Marita Banda and Per Hagman. It was an EDM party, lasting from 8pm to 7am, featuring Andrew Harris, Rufaro, Jonathan Santarelli, Daniel Sevelt & El Poser. The second musical gathering was held at All Asia in Central Square, Cambridge, MA featuring DJs Jonathan Santarelli & Daniel Sevelt.
I’m incredibly grateful for all of the time, money, love and support both myself and Three Strange Women have received during the course of this project. I knew we’d be able to accomplish it, but I never could have imagined how good it would actually feel. This is my first big project as a young woman trying to make a place for her queer little self in the ever spinning chaos of Boston. I enjoyed every moment of insanity and could never have pictured it happening any other way.
While the day isn’t exactly upon us yet (less than a week left!!!!), I can already say that this is the most fun, rewarding and EPIC thing I’ve been able to do thus far in my life, I’ll be the first one to let everyone know that this is just the beginning!
Thank you again to everyone who has supported Three Strange Women and me in this endeavor, none of it would be possibly without YOU!
Jackie Soriano
